In our latest installment of GearCrush, we talk to singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Misty Boyce. Misty began her career as the keyboardist for Nickelodeon’s The Naked Brothers Band. making her national television debut on The View and The Today Show in 2008. More recently, she was on tour with Sara Bareilles, supporting her album The Blessed Unrest. She also accompanied Bareilles during her moving “Smile” tribute on the 2014 Emmy Awards broadcast.
Misty just released her second full-length album The Life, and we think it sounds pretty awesome. Here, she tells us about her latest #GearCrush.
What gear are you crushing on?
A Fender Jazzmaster guitar
How would you use it?
I would use it to play sad, thoughtful songs.
What song of yours would you most like to hear it on?
Is there a specific artist or song that first piqued your interest in this gear or sound?
My buddy Tim Williams of The Soft Swells has one that he lets me borrow.
Who’s got the gear collection you most covet? It can be a studio, producer, band, whoever!
My Dream 5 pieces of gear in a studio is a great piano, a B3, a Fender Rhodes, a Prophet 5, and a real Mellotron, and the only studio I've been to that had all of these minus the Prophet was Dreamland Studios up in Woodstock. I want to live there. But if someone can tell me where there's a Prophet 5 too I'd live there instead.
